1937 Hispano-Suiza H-6C “Xenia” Coupe
In 1919 Hispano-Suiza has built its most famous model -- H6. For many years this car has become a classic example of high-end luxury car. On it was mounted a six-cylinder engine with overhead camshaft capacity of 6597 cm3 and an output of 125 horsepower. Most of the engine power and high speed performance demanded installation of servo brakes on all wheels, involved from the transmission.
The outstanding characteristics of the car have made to attention to paid to it by athletes who took part in numerous races in those years. One of the drivers was the young Andre Dubonnet, whose family made a fortune trading good brandy and aperitifs.
Many years later, in 1938, he used the old chassis of the Hispano Suiza H6C, replacing the front spring suspension and axle beam to the invention of independent suspension with coil springs. This suspension has been very successful, and Dubonnet sold the patent to Alfa Romeo, GM, FIAT and Delahaye.
The striking car Hispano-Suiza H6C Saoutchik Xenia Coupe was made to demonstrate the capabilities of the independent suspension of Andre Dubonnet. The car’s body is built by the famous Parisian atelier Jacques Saoutchik. Not unlike any other, this car with avant-garde design droplet has a parallel system of opening doors and interior, reminiscent of a cockpit.
