In 1935 was developed the road car 8C 2900 specifically for the legendary race Mille Miglia. Like other Grand Prix racing cars of the time, the 8C 2900 had fully independent spring suspension with wishbones front and rear oblique. Under the hood of the car was a 220hp inline eight-cylinder engine of 2.9 liters.

A total of six racing cars were built, which later received the name 8C 2900A. Three of them took part in the Mille Miglia race in 1936, taking the first three places. The next year’s race also proved successful, and taking the race car as a basis, the company has built a road car version. This car, which received the designation 8C 2900B had derated engine producing 180 horsepower and components and construction units were almost unchanged from the racing version.

There were two versions of the 8C 2900B available, with a short wheelbase measuring 2800 mm (Corto) and long -- 3000 mm (Lungo). Most of the built chassis is sent to the company Carrozzeria Touring, which was equipped with beautiful roadster and Berlinetta bodies.

The Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta on the long chassis is considered one of the most beautiful ever built cars. Equipped with racing chassis, this car was the fastest among its contemporaries, developing speed of 175 kilometers per hour. It is a pity that due to the high prices, only 30 of these supercars (10 on the long chassis and 20 -- on the short) were built.
