1946 Dodge Power Wagon

The Dodge Power Wagon was a pick-up of the American car brand Dodge that was produced from 1945 until 1969. The Power Wagon was the first widely circulated built civilian 4×4 and is an ancestor of many current 4x4s.

The Dodge Power Wagon was introduced in 1946 and was based on the three-quarter-ton military truck that was built during World War II. On its chassis were installed a civilian body and a loading of 2.5 to 1.4 meters. Under the hood was a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed option to divert power to auxiliary equipment like a winch.

Around 1956 appeared the lighter Dodge Town Wagon, which was also available with 4×4 in 1957. Meanwhile the years went by without many changes in the Power Wagon. But the truck got a new 4.1-liter engine and technical improvements and minor visual changes were implemented. In 1969, the Power Wagon was put to stop because its more than thirty years old cabin design no longer met the requirements.

Afterwards until 1979 were built export models and the 4×4 version of the Dodge Ram for 1993 became designated with Ram Power. In 2005 the name was used again on a special off-road version of the Dodge Ram including a 5.7-liter Hemi V8.
