You think you know all about tuning? Forget it! Having been at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, you get rid of such illusions.
During the past month, Las Vegas has become a true world capital of tuning. Hundreds of companies (both large and not) were here for their unique, sometimes daring and dizzying tuning projects.
The exhibition SEMA is the world’s largest event bringing together more than 7000 companies that produce special automotive equipment. SEMA was held for the first time in 1965, which means that this year the biggest tuning show the world celebrates its 50th anniversary. The scope of the 2015 SEMA exhibition simply staggers the imagination, the total area of the exhibition halls over two million square meters.
Back in 1963 a group of enthusiasts, engaged in manufacturing a variety of parts for car tuning, gathered in the parking lot at the baseball stadium to discuss pressing issues and future prospects of the business. Thus was born the American Association of manufacturers of special equipment (SEMA). Its mission was simple and practical -- to develop universal standards for products manufactured for motorsport, to establish mutually beneficial partnerships, and establish legal norms for business. In addition, organizers of the SEMA saw one of the directions of an annual exhibition that would allow to draw attention to tuning in all its forms and collect the flags of SEMA all producers and consumers of these products.
Today SEMA is considered to be the largest and most influential exhibition in the world of car tuning. If in the past mostly small tuning shops showed their offspring at the event, now different departments of major world producers show their abilities at the SEMA show, transforming production models into true “madness.”
What is the SEMA 2015? Among the large number of automotive events the show in Las Vegas really stands out. In contrast, for example, to a similar event in Essen, at SEMA there is no general public who paid for a ticket so they could look at trends of tuning companies. You can get here only after the pre-registration on the site as a guest of the association or as a company representative. But despite the fact that there are no casual onlookers, a huge number of visitors come at the exhibition. Last year alone, the number of participants and guests of the SEMA exceeded 120 thousand people, and it was in just four days of its work.
In this article we take a look at the most interesting tuning projects presented by leading automobile companies in the world. After all, many cars making their debut here as a show car, may eventually become a reality.
In addition to small companies and shops in this bustling and vibrant tuning holiday many global corporations showed their creations, including the Fiat-Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Mazda, Kia and Hyundai, Toyota and Lexus. Huge stands take bus brands BFGoodrich, Continental, Goodyear, Firestone, Toyo Tyres, as well as manufacturers of paints Glasurit and PPG.
