Volkswagen 1200 Cabriolet
It was back in 1948 when Karmann first turned a Volkswagen Beetle Sedan into a convertible with four seats. Thus came the Volkswagen 1200 Cabriolet. This vintage car came well equipped with twin map pockets, rear stone shields, vanity mirror, and ashtrays.
The 1950-1959 models underwent a number of changes, including hydraulic brakes, folding sunroof started coming up, the rear window mirror changed to a singular oval. In 1966, the VW 1200 received the unique Z-configuration, wherein changes were made to the flywheel, reversing lights, windscreen wipers, and headlights. In 1968 on this vintage car were introduced C-section bumpers.
The Volkswagen 1200 is one of those classic cars equipped lots of of safety features too. In 1970, was introduced the Luxus package. The 1972 models got larger rear windows. The following years the car got large taillights. The following year was introduced a limited edition of Big Beetle.
This itself became a good example for a vintage car. The Volkswagen 1200 got a production boost from 1945.
Based on the Type 1 models of the Cabriolet, the different version started coming up by the name of Volkswagen 1200, 1300, and 1500 simply based on their reformed engines.
This people’s car took the world of vintage cars by storm and is still considered to be a beloved classic.
