Buick Riviera

The Buick Riviera was a car produced by Buick in the United States between 1963 and 1999. Defined as a coupe or a personal luxury car, especially the first of the Riviera models have been praised by journalists of automotive and many writers.

The Riviera model is the highest achievement of the Buick brand in the luxury coupe genre. The car was awarded for its extravagant style and tremendous power reserves. Its designers had the challenge to mix together the Ferrari dynamics of and Rolls-Royce’s respectability. The Oldsmobile Aurora served as a basis for the luxury coupe. In the line of the rear of the roof lines could be really guessed the Rolls-Royce, while the front end was “in the box”, like Ferrari. The exterior looks of the Riviera did not bear resemblance to other Buick models of that era, although the frame which was used for the car was a standard Buick only narrowed and shortened. The model was produced exclusively as a coupé version, which enabled it to become one of the pioneers of the nascent American car class, the personal luxury coupe class. It is incomprehensible that the Buick Riviera has attracted widespread attention and became the flagship of the Buick model line, immediately securing success in the US. In 1963 40,000 samples were sold and in 1964 -37,658 pieces.
