Buick Roadmaster Skylark
On the 50th anniversary since the foundation of the Buick brand the exclusive convertible Buick Skylark was released. The car is a deep modification of the Roadmaster with doors slightly “clipped” at the top of the (which is why the waistline was dramatically changed), enlarged cutaway rear wheel arches, but without the panoramic windscreen. On the Skylark was established a new model for a Buick engine -- five-liter V8 with four-barrel carburetor, a compression ratio of 8.5: 1, which developed 188 horsepower. Acceleration to 100 km / h takes around 12 seconds. Maximum speed is 170 km / h. This model is recognized as one of the most collectible and expensive models in the history of Buick. The jubilee car was released quite a lot before the end of the 1953 season, with a total of 1690 pieces. So Buick Skylark gets even more the definition of a truly exclusive model the following year, in 1954, with 836 copies of the car released.
The development of the Buick Skylark was based on the basis of the Roadmaster model, which has undergone significant modernization. During the entire existence of the company the Buick Skylark is one of the most expensive and collectible models. The car has an interesting and attractive rear view, which is its unique distinction in the main weight of the car.
As for the internal performance, the trim of the Buick Skylark was made of genuine leather. Also, it included many elements of luxury. Thus, with its appearance the Buick Skylark marked the advent of the new era, namely the era of personal cars, the driving of which could be carried out not by hired drivers without difficulty, but by the wealthy car owners. Despite the numerous upgrades in its design, the Buick Skylark remained recognizable by its original overall style as well as elegance present in its shape.
