Hudson Hornet
Hudson Hornet is a full-size passenger car produced by Hudson Motors in Detroit, Michigan from 1951 to 1954 and later by American Motors from 1955 to 1957 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Hudson Hornet had a first-generation functional streamlined design; the bottom and the chassis have lowered the center of gravity, allowing the car to perform well in racing. The design of the first generation of Hudson Hornet was qualitatively different from its competitors. Due to the lowered floor the roofline managed to be lower and smoother, which together with the smooth and voluminous shapes of the body has made the car look more stylish and artsy. At the time, it looked elegant and with its beauty it could even compete with such luxury brands like Cadillac.
Hudson Company began producing the model Hornet in 1951, the same year Chrysler introduced its super powerful engine Chrysler Firepower Hemi V8. Then, several car critics even said that even with the five-liter engine, the Hudson will not be able to compete in the popular Chrysler while racing stock-car.
A total of 43,656 Hornet cars were made in 1951. The model was available in bodies of 2-door coupe, hardtop, convertible and 4-door sedan. The second generation of the Hornet was itself a restyling of the modification Nash, sold under the Hudson brand until 1957.
