1971-1980 International Scout II
The International Harvester Scout was one of the most famous vehicles with four wheel drive of the ‘60s and ‘70s, with over 500,000 samples released in that time. The original Scout 80 and later 800s were strong competitors to Jeep. However it was the later, bigger, and more modern Scout II model that many fans desire today.
The Scout II was a heavy and versatile machine, and International designed it to be able to handle almost any task. The short overhangs of the bodywork and strong drivetrain made it to be a great offroad vehicle. The most desirable models of the Scout II came after 1974 when the strong Dana 44 front axle became standard, together with disc brakes. The Scout II was offered with an optional 304 cid V8 or the powerful 345 cid V8 engine. From 1976, customers who needed more space could order a Traveler SUV or a Terra pickup version built on a wheelbase that was 18 inch longer.
