These Are The 51 MOST AWESOME Trucks You Have Ever Seen! WOW!

1990-1993 Chevy 454 SS

The craziness for sport trucks had reached its peak levels by the early ‘90s, and a large part of its popularity was due to the redesigned 1988 Chevrolet and GMC full-size trucks. General Motors decided that these new GMT 400 trucks were a perfect blueprint to create a high-performance pickup, so the Chevy 454 SS from 1990 offered only in black was a beast. Chevy borrowed the 454-cid big-block V8 engine from the company’s heavy-duty pickups, together with the potent Turbo 400 3-speed automatic and a 9.5” rear axle. The next year, Chevy switched to a 4-speed automatic transmission and increased the power to 255 hp and the torque to 405 lb-ft. This resulted in the 0-60 mph times to drop down to the low less-than-7-second-range, which wasn’t far from the speed of some Chevy Camaro models of that time.

What’s awesome about the Chevy 454 SS is not necessarily its speed. It’s that General Motors took a large engine which was intended for a heavier use and re-purposed it for fun, same as the muscle car period of the ‘60s.
