1991-1994 Jeep Wrangler Renegade
Back in the 1990s, the name Renegade meant that performance had returned to the Jeep Wrangler.
For its 1991 model year, Jeep took its 4.0-liter I6 engine and remade it with a new fuel injection system, air intake and exhaust manifolds, and cam timing, creating the legendary 190 hp “High Output” 4.0L. This 4.0-liter Wrangler was so powerful (it had only 35 hp less than a Mustang GT) that the company decided to resurrect the Renegade as a sporty optional package worth $4000. That 4.0L engine was standard, and the Jeep Renegade also had larger body-color fender flares and thicker tires on 8” wide rims.
