1961-1975 International Harvester Travelall
It was the Chevrolet Suburban that might have invented the SUV, but it was International which used the proper number of doors on it. With 4 real doors, it was easy for a person to climb into the third row of the Harvester Travelall. Also in 1961, the Harvester Travelall got new stylish bodywork with curves due to which it became a classic.
Starting that year, models with two wheel drive were built lower to the ground and drove on a torsion bar front suspension. However, the 4X4 models were still tall using the same solid axle, and leaf sprung suspension like the International Harvester pickups. The 4” wheelbase stretch over the 1950s Travelall which meant that this truck could really tow, no matter if it was people or load. With every seat in place, there was enough room for 9 persons.
