2003-2006 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) Rubicon

When it was released in 2003, this optional version was received by the public as an instant hit. This model was, for a lot of people, a high point of Jeep’s off-road capability due to its agile size and the flexible coil-link suspension.

The TJ was smaller than modern Wranglers and had under its hood Jeep’s 4.0-liter I6 engine, so it could drive up hard on narrow trails with practically no modifications at all. To make the Wrangler TJ into an even more capable off-road vehicle, the Rubicon package was offered with thick Dana 44 axles on front and rear, electronic locking differentials, ultra-low gearing in its transfer case, as well as aggressive 31” mud tires by Goodyear.

The rarest and most desirable Rubicon models from this generation were the Unlimited models sold from 2004 to 2006 which set the stage for the today’s Unlimited with four doors.
