1991-1993 GMC Syclone/Typhoon

These two trucks were probably the two strangest performance vehicles ever built in the city of Detroit. GMC transformed its humble S-15 compact pickup into a beast that could defeat almost anything at the drag strip. The 4.3L V6 engine was turbocharged to develop power of 280 hp and torque of 360 lb-ft. The Corvette of that time had less torque. The one-year-only Syclone which was produced only for one year and the Typhoon that followed it used the automatic transmission of the Corvette as well as the same gear shifter. However, unlike the Corvette, these trucks used all wheel drive. The Syclone could accelerate to 60 mph in a ridiculous (of that time) 4.3 seconds.

The downside of having a Syclone was that it had very small capacity for carrying and wasn’t rated to tow. But nobody cared about that, because it was pretty fast.
