1988-1991 Chevy/GMC V3500 Crew Cab 4X4

The then new light-duty Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks were revolutionary in 1988 due to their design and drivetrain, and General Motors built heavier-duty 2500 and 3500-series models. But that new-school makeover did not sit well with the hardcore towing and four-wheeling crowd -- at least not right away.

Lucky for the company, General Motors kept the crew cab 3500 on the old body and chassis until the year of 1992. The old crew cab retained the heavy-duty Dana 60 solid front axle with leaf springs suspension, and the all-gear, almost indestructible NP 205 transfer case matched with General Motors overdrive automatic transmission. This drivetrains as well as the boxy design was a dream for big truck fans.
