1985-1995 Suzuki Samurai

If there was ever a Mazda Miata in the world of trucks, that would surely be the Suzuki Samurai. This Suzuki is one of the lightest and most agile vehicles with four wheel drive to ever land on the shores of America. Its wheelbase was just over a foot shorter than the one of a modern Jeep Wrangler, and it weighed almost 2000 pounds less.

The Samurai evolved from the first Suzuki Jimny 4WD released in 1969, built on a trail-strong chassis that comprised of solid axles with leaf springs able to handle much bigger tires than the original ones on the trucklet. For a RV, the fun little Samurai was definitely a tough SUV to beat.

The best samples were the one with fuel injection system built from 1991 to 1995. Its replacement, the Suzuki Sidekick which was a bit more street-friendly, was perhaps better for driving on the pavement but did not had the hardcore dirt capability of the Suzuki Samurai.
