1947-2014 Mercedes-Benz Unimog

If a short list of trucks with the greatest significance was to be made, then the Mercedes-Benz Unimog would surely be on it. The earliest Unimogs built after World War II were simply farm trucks that could also double as tractors. But during the decades, the Unimog trucks expanded from agriculture to make models which were used in the military, civil services, as well as for camping expeditions able due to its capability to carry heavy loads. At the top of the Unimog range are the U 5000s, which are massive trucks that can tow load of 16,000 pounds in their beds, with 16 inches of ground clearance under their axles, and ride through nearly three feet of water. These trucks can rarely be seen in the United States. But older ex-military (particularly Swiss military) trucks, particularly ones from Switzerland from the ‘60s have landed on the American shore and are great backcountry fun vehicles.
